MVPN Volunteer of the Month-December
During our monthly MVPN meeting held earlier today, we recognized Johnny Kellough. Mr. Kellough was raised in Bellmead, Texas and was named after the astronaut John Glenn. He graduated from La Vega High School in 1978 as a recognized baseball player.
He then joined the US Navy in 1979 working as a Seabee. Throughout his time in the Navy, he was stationed in California, Hawaii, Maryland, Florida, and others. Johnny was active duty until 1984 and was in the active reserves until 1989.
With trade skills he acquired in the Navy, Johnny worked for the next 35 years in the water restoration industry traveling nationwide with his self-owned business, Finishline Restoration. Today, he works as the chaplain for Racers for Christ along with his wife Marianne.
About a year and a half ago, Mr. Kellough started working with the Veterans One Stop. Every Wednesday from 7am-3pm, he volunteers his time as a MVPN volunteer visiting veteran shut-ins and VA hospice patients.
Most recently, Johnny used his professional parade experience to design and build the exquisite 2019 Veterans Day float for the One Stop using his own trailer and truck.
With appreciation for his selfless service and dedication to the veteran community, the Veterans One Stop and the MVPN awarded Johnny Kellough with the December 2019 Volunteer of the Month.
